Give Me Death! – magic that is

Frozen Hearts and Death Magic by Day Leitao: A Book Review

Genre: Fantasy Romance

Leitao writes a great start to her upcoming Of Fire and Fae series. Giving mostly background information while focusing on creating a connection with the characters, Frozen Hearts and Death Magic is a thrilling beginning to what could only be a highly anticipated story featuring magic, love, hate, and war.

Honestly, while some of Leitao’s surprises and twists were highly likely, all were reasonable and worked well to draw the reader into the story. I look forward to book 2, Iron Hearts and Dragon Magic, to see more Fel/Leah and Naia/River especially. Of course, I do hope that more light is shed surrounding River given that his story confused me throughout Frozen Hearts and Death Magic. (Thankfully, I do think I grasped most of it, but the whole thing is very disorienting when I think about it.)

I also look forward to learning more about the magic of the world. I found the different types fascinating. Not only were they highly respectable and realistic – but they were also highly favorable (aka: I would love to have any of them).

Who would most enjoy the work and who should stay clear (if necessary):

Magic lovers and those who love interconnected love stories would definitely enjoy this. With its new take on dragons, I also think dragon lovers would enjoy the work as well.

People who don’t want the slow build, but want action here and now would not truly enjoy this book.
