3 Stars, but actually really good

Droplets of Magic by Emily Bybee: A Book Review

Genre: Romance / Fantasy

Emily Bybee writes an interesting story with a lot of potential in an intriguing new world. Part of a stand-alone book series, Droplets of Magic does stand by itself – even as it is obvious that other books come before it. Of course, I do not mean this as any sort of insult – and am actually really interested in reading the rest of her books. The only reason I am upset with the book is because it seems that big chunks of the story were missing.

Let me explain.

The book progressed in either a slow or fast pace. Often, I would be reading the book in which a slow build-up was happening only to turn the page and appear past the climax of the event. As a result, I felt like I was missing quite a bit of what was happening.

However…

Overall, I actually really enjoyed Bybee’s work and would recommend it without hesitation.

Who would most enjoy the work and who should stay clear (if necessary):

Romance lovers, especially ones who enjoy stand-alone books that work with the same characters withing a series will especially enjoy this.

Those interested in stories about the 5 elements, especially ones in which each element is associated with some kind of magic.

Other books like the one reviewed:

The Sea Breeze series by Abbi Glines

Christine Feehan’s Dark series and Leopard series
