Dear Martin by Nic Stone: A Book Review
Genre: Realistic Fiction
Stone writes not only a captivating story, but also one of complete necessity. Telling the story of a young black teenager who gets racially profiled, I was completely shocked at the end of story – as well as shaken to the core. Written in different writing styles ranging from play format to narrative to news briefings, Stone tells a much needed story regarding the racial injustice we face in the world. Sadly, even though her work was written in 2017, her words and story still happen today. A must-read, Dear Martin opens eyes while at the same time demanding answers to questions we, as a society, still don’t have answers to.
Who would most enjoy the work and who should stay clear (if necessary):
The thing about this work is that everyone might not enjoy it, but they should still read it.
Other books like the one reviewed:
While not a book, I highly suggest reading Martin Luther King Jr.’s speeches and sermons.
