Turkey Coma

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone enjoyed spending time with their family. The holidays can tend to be difficult especially on the family level. Personally, my holidays tend to be filled with drama, so if you try to avoid everyone and everything, I completely understand. I am thankful that I have come to the realization that I am not required to attend or stay. While being an adult has its downsides, being able to decide/ enact what is best for yourself personally tends to go into the pro column more often than not.

That said, I seriously hope that everyone was able to keep their mental health in mind and will be able to continue to do so throughout the rest of the holiday season. Whether you need to draw, write, read, shop, etc. to relieve your stress, I highly encourage you do to do (at a reasonable pace).

No Review this Week

This week I didn’t focus on reading for a review. While I read a little, I focused on planning for the holiday season, baking (made my first pie ever), and being present with family. I am only of the oldest grandchildren and I have a couple younger ones who like to spend time with me baking. In fact, I was shocked that they asked if they could do such weeks ago and started planning what we were going to bake and everything themselves. As a result, right now I have a mass amount of sweets that I don’t necessarily need. Of course, I am thankful that my cousins enjoy spending time with me enough to reach out on their own, however, it makes me sad that I am the only one who seems to be willing to do things like this with them. There are 7 or 8 grandchildren that are now adults and yet I am the only one I know of that the children plan events with. Does anyone else have what is becoming a tradition that younger relatives look forward to? Or do you have something you tend to do with your younger relatives?

Currently

Right now, I am looking at strengthening my Insta-game. I have started to actually take nice flatlays and have connected my Instagram account to this blog (which I hope works). I’ve joined a vast amount of engagement groups and have been following people like crazy. So far, I have received more attention to my posts though nothing too big and no major comments. The main problem I am running up against is that I have a bad habit of not posting. I don’t tend to think of things as publish-worthy, something I am even trying to work on through this. (I mean I am just like everyone else, who is gonna care what I have to say or what is going on with my life right?) I don’t know about any other bloggers, but I do not have a huge amount of self-confidence. Half the stuff I write or post, I tend to write, proofread, and publish without trying to think too much into anything. I also don’t tend to hope too much about getting comments even as I purposely write things for people to comment on (hence different questions and my asides). You guys have no idea how excited I get when I see a comment/ or how long I smile after seeing a like.

Anyway…

Do you have any suggestions on how to strengthen my online presence? Are you interested in seeing something more here? Check out my account on Instagram @funlibstyle. Follow, like, all of the above and let me know how I could make it more into something you would be able to interact with. I’m all ears. Social media is not my forte. But I am trying to learn!

Announcements

I am currently reading From Blood and Ash. It may be stupid, but right now I am focusing more on the publishing format of Blue Box Press. The pages are beautiful! The text is just the right size. The margins are wider than normal which, for some reason, is highly satisfying. The paper is also just a bit on the thicker side, so turning the page is satisfying in itself. Of course, the story so far is good as well. The picture down below will take you to the Goodreads page for From Blood and Ash.
