Genre: Horror
From the very first page of this story, I was hooked. With the fast pace and mind chasing realism, the heroine fit exactly to what I need and want in a story. True be told, this story was one that I read at the exact moment I needed to. I have been craving the chance to read it, but had scheduled to read another as the later was supposed to arrive first. Somehow, the arrived on the same day, so I jumped to read this first wanting a story with danger, hate, vengeance to calm my mind from the chaos that the world around me had unleashed in my thoughts.
If you haven’t already figured out, I’m not the person that reads fairy tales and sugar when I need my mind to quiet. I need something louder than my head. This book did the trick. Rather than caring about my problems, the main character pulled me into her’s. And let me tell you, she has some BIG problems.
With anticipation behind every page and the idea of what is known and what isn’t, it was almost a relief to find out who the person behind everything ended up being was not the one you thought. With each character having their own flaws and emotions, it was easy to see the world reflected in the few characters that make an entrance. The story definitely held the idea that people aren’t born necessarily evil and with enough pushing people tend to break.
I would encourage people to read it, although those younger than thirteen may not understand some of the ideas. Also, I wouldn’t recommend young children or those who deem themselves sensitive to read it as the horror, suspense, and violence depicted might be too much for them.
