Graphic Novel or Written Literature
Hi, everyone. This week I decided to do something a little bit differently. It is a well known fact (at least where I am sitting) that people regard graphic novels as lower quality than written literature. I decided that this time I would read two books: one literature and the other the graphic novel adaptation for the written book. I also decided to do this with a classic novel or a book that classes would want you to read in some sense. I chose Anne Frank’s Diary aka Diary of a Young Girl.
I chose this story for many reasons, one of which being that I tried reading this story when I was in high school and did not get very far. I couldn’t envision any one and, quite frankly, I am not a fan of diary entry writing. When searching for a book for this week, however, I found Anne Frank’s diary as a graphic novel. I figured that it would be one of the best choices as I doubt I am the only one that struggles to read through it. I would compare the graphic novel in relation to the written piece.
